In this episode, Andrea Butler interviews Susan about promoting employee mental health and well-being. Key takeaways from this episode:
The most engaged employees are often the ones most prone to burnout. Leaders at every level within the organization need to check in with their people and ask how they are feeling and what can be done to help support them where they are. It's important to remove the roadblocks that you are able to remove.
Employers who encourage and support mental health in the workplace are going to win in the marketplace and ensure they do not lose really great talent.
This membership video (originally postponed from filming at the Mars, Incorporated offices where Susan worked at the time) was shot remotely in Susan's home during the pandemic. This compilation of Susan sharing her experience as a long-time (since 2003) SHRM member highlights the value she has placed on membership at the organization. The full video highlighting three members was utilized on numerous SHRM advertising materials including on their website to promote the importance of a collective HR professional organization.
